Description
Gary Mokotoff is the first person to be awarded the Lifetime Achievement Award of the International Association of Jewish Genealogical Societies (IAJGS) for his contributions to Jewish genealogy. Among his many achievements are past president of IAJGS, co-creator of the Daitch-Mokotoff Soundex System, creator of numerous databases includeing the JewishGen Family Finder and Consolidated Jewish Surname Index, coauthor of Where Once We Walked (Teaneck, N.J.: Avotaynu 1991) and author of How to Document Victims and Locate Survivors of the Holocaust (Teaneck, N.J.: Avotaynu, 1995). He is on the Board of Directors of the Federation of Genealogical Societies and has won numerous awards from that organization for his efforts on its behalf.
Warren Blatt is an active member of the Jewish Genealogical Society of Greater Boston where he served on its Board of Directors for a number of years. He was chair of the 15th Summer Seminar on Jewish Genealogy held in Boston in 1996. He is a vice-president of techinical services for JewishGen and is its Webmaster. He is the author of Resources for Jewish Genealogy in the Boston Area (Boston: JGSGB, 1996) and FAQ: Frequently Asked Questions About Jewish Genealogy (Teaneck, N.J.: Avotaynu, 1996). He is an author of numerous articles on Jewish genealogy published in various journals; he also lectures and teaches on the subject.
