Description

Recognizing that Jacob Levin's spiritual inspiration was still an important factor in the lives of his former students, Ginger Jacobs began researching and organizing material for a tribute to him. Other of his friends and students were helpful. A valued contributor to the Dallas Jewish community, Ginger Jacobs is a native Dallasite who entered the Hebrew School of Dallas at the age of five and graduated from the Hebrew high school. She has been active in preserving the city's Jewish heritage through Dallas Jewish Archives founding, Temple Emanu-El and Congregation Shearith Israel's Archive programs. Her educational experience includes bachelor's and master's degrees, teaching from pre-school to college levels in physical education, sociology, Jewish studies to Hebrew.

Ginger has been actively involved with leadership in Jewish Welfare Federation, American Jewish Congress, Jewish National Fund, B'nai Birth, Holocaust Survivors in Dallas, Zionist Organization, Texas Jewish School and Na' Amat. Ginger is also a member of Organization Development Professionals, an international professional organization.

With her husband Mike, a Holocaust survivor, Ginger worked on the development and construction of the Memorial Center for Holocause Studies in Dallas. Her children Mark, Andy, Reuben and Debbie as well as her son-in-law Wayne Linksman and her grandchildren Rivka, Leeza, and Sarah were all incentives for Ginger's achievements in preserving Jewish heritage.

It is in the spirit of his dedication to Hebrew scholarship that this lasting loving tribute to her beloved "Chaver" Levin has been created.

Foreward by Rabbi Edward Feinstein under whose guidance as principal of Solomon Schechter Academy of Dallas the school received the prestigious award of Center of Excellence by the National Council of Teachers of English 1985 - 1987.
